The invention relates to a water purification system based upon earthen pot. It comprises of two chambers. The First purifying chamber at the top consists of a mixture of sand and mud. The purification chamber also consists of ceramic candles. The water present in the purifying chamber is absorbed by the candle and the impurities remains adsorbed at the surface of silica present in the candle due to presence of burnt rice husk. Remaining water which is free from impurities slowly trickle down to the storage chamber. The second chamber which is also a storage chamber is made up of mixture of mud and rice husk ash in a specific ratio. After neutralization, microorganisms need to be removed from water, for that purpose chlorination is done. The remaining water in the storage chamber is free of contamination.
