Robot for Printing Lanes on Roads

“In India, the lanes are painted manually on the roads and need manpower. Many people are required for this work to do various tasks like pushing the machine, controlling the flow of the thermoplastic fluid in the container, and even measuring and checking with thread if lanes are straight. In other countries, the work is carried out by big machines. As they are huge in size and cost around Rs. 40 lakhs in Indian currency, the machines need lots of maintenance.

Our team noticed the issue and proposed a solution in the form of a “road-printing-robot”. The robot will paint lanes on-road in real-time without any hassle. It results in clean and beautiful roads. This system is compact as compared to other machines available in market. Also, it reduces labour costs and speeds up the process. Robots are potentially more flexible and can work in any environmental condition (like windy, sunny, foggy, etc.), which increases productivity. The development of this robot might also prompt other uses for highways.”
